Dear Friends of Wireless Messaging,

Since I was attending ENTERPRISE WIRELESS 2009 this week in Atlanta, this is a very abbreviated issue of the newsletter. It consists mainly of several photos and an audio recording of the Paging Technical Committee meeting.

The news headlines this week are:

  • Roy Pottle, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of American Messaging Services is the New AAPC President
  • The PTC officially comes under the wing of the AAPC
  • Forthcoming clarification of the new PTC bylaws expected, allowing participation in the PTC without being a member of the AAPC
  • EWA and AAPC announce friendly agreement to discontinue their association.

More news to follow next week.

Typo Correction From Last Week's Newsletter

Another False Rumor:

The only two paging channels below 512 MHz that can remain on 25 kHz spacing are 152.0075 MHz and 157.4500 MHz, all others must narrowband by January 1, 2013.

This was referring only to public safety paging channels. The CMRS paging-only channels licensed under Part 90 are NOT being narrowbanded. At a minimum that includes two high power and one low power VHF channel and eight high power and one low power VHF channel.

Should have been:
