483 November 25, 2011
  • I received several favorable comments about the open letter last week from Roy Pottle, President, of the Critical Messaging Association, to Judit Sharon, CEO at Onset Technology. This is one of the reasons that we have a strong trade association. If you are involved in the Wireless Messaging industry, you should be a member. Roy's letter is repeated this week. Vic Jackson also comments on this issue, and points out that he had a major debate with this firm (here in the newsletter) back in 2009. He says, “Hurrah! to Roy Pottle for his excellent defense of the paging industry!”

Roy politely corrects some mistaken ideas about Paging presented in a recent Onset press release. This is a good example of our association (CMA) looking out for the best interests of the Wireless Messaging industry.

Greetings from Southern Illinois. All is well here, except that I have to attend the funeral of a friend today, and so the regular newsletter will be late getting out. Maybe later today or maybe tomorrow.

Jon Word of Contact Wireless/SelectPath in New Mexico has commissioned Leslie Prichard—a freelance writer—to write several articles promoting the continued advantages of paging for critical messaging delivery. I will be publishing one article per week in the next several issues.

To get things started off, the first one is included here. Congratulations to Jon for taking the initiative on this promotion. We need more of this. . .
